Saint Philip AME is a well established beacon of light in east Atlanta. Its campus consisted of the original church sanctuary and educational building, now used as a day-care and after-school program along with a recently constructed Worship Center. However, to adequately serve it’s own congregation and continue its stewardship to the area, additional facilities were required.
The Family Life and Activity Center (FLAC) was designed not only to address those needs, but also to unify a disjointed campus complex. FLAC acts as a complete community center. Day care, school tutoring and adult training are offered along with a full athletic component with gym, enclosed track, fitness center and locker room facilities. A commercial kitchen serves a large fellowship hall with stage for church and theatrical performances. Administrative suites serve the church staff’s needs as well as providing a book store and credit union to all.
The building also connects the original church building to the new Worship Center, providing a controlled, secure environment for children and
allowing access to all buildings on campus without dealing with inclement weather.
